Level 1 Technician
The Level 1 Test Cell Technician is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating engine and/or
battery test benches while ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate test execution. This role involves
preparing engines/batteries, performing basic tests, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining lab
equipment. The position requires a combination of technical knowledge, organizational skills, and the
ability to work independently or as part of a team. Candidates should be willing to learn dynamometer
operations, electronic troubleshooting, and fabrication techniques. An Associate degree and 1–3 years
of experience are preferred, but on-the-job training is possible for the right candidate.
• Set up, maintain, and operate engine and/or battery test benches and instrumentation.
• Prepare production and prototype engines, vehicles, and test equipment.
• Perform basic tests, lab procedures, and troubleshooting on engines.
• Support facility operations and resolve issues affecting test cells.
• Conduct daily maintenance checks and ensure adherence to safety and ISO procedures.
• Use machine tools, hand tools, welding, and fabrication for test setups.
• Learn and utilize troubleshooting tools, such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal
generators.
• Understand and use mechanical measurement devices for temperature, pressure, and flow.
• Learn to wire electrical systems, including instrumentation, sensors, actuators, and motors.
• Maintain documentation, organize equipment, and practice good housekeeping.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members and attend required meetings.
• High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred, with 1–3 years of experience.
Level 2 Technician
The Level 2 Test Cell Technician is responsible for setting up, maintaining, and operating engines and/or
battery test benches. This role includes engine/battery preparation, dynamometer cell testing, and
vehicle testing, with a focus on more complex tests than Level 1 technicians. Duties involve creating
automated tests, troubleshooting, supporting facility operations, and collaborating with customer
engineers. The position requires strong problem-solving skills, proficiency with tools and software, and a
clear understanding of internal combustion engines. Flexibility in working hours, including potential
overtime and weekends, is necessary to meet project demands.
• Operate and maintain engine/battery test benches with associated equipment and
instrumentation.
• Set up production and prototype engines, vehicles, and instrumentation.
• Conduct complex testing and create automated tests using test cell software.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot engine/battery and test cell issues.
• Communicate effectively with customer engineers and team members.
• Support facility operations, including addressing issues impacting test cells.
• Perform day-to-day maintenance, organization, and housekeeping tasks.
• Adhere to safety, ISO procedures, and company values in all activities.
• Proficiently use tools, equipment, and software for engine testing and maintenance.
• Capable of reading schematics, wiring systems, and using mechanical/electrical measurement
instruments.
• High school diploma required; Associate degree preferred, with 1–3 years of experience.
